September 11 Memorial Tours in NYC
As the anniversary of September 11th, 2001 approaches, many look for ways to commemorate and reflect on the events of that day, which is why ART SMART has created a special guided tour to explore the area around Ground Zero, reflect on its history, and focus on its vibrant renewal over the past seventeen years.
Our private tour uses the Freedom Tower, Oculus, and 9/11 Museum and Memorial as our anchors, with options to explore other areas of interest as you desire. ART SMART tours are never scripted, so you can expect an open dialogue with your guide. Group members are free to ask questions and share thoughts and experiences throughout the outing.
About the Freedom Tower
The Freedom Tower, officially known as One World Trade Center, is the sixth tallest building in the world, and the tallest structure in the western hemisphere at a symbolic 1776 feet high. It opened in 2014 and stands on the original site of 6 World Trade Center. The building houses the One World Observatory, and offers 9/11 memorial exhibits and breathtaking views of the city. Your private guide will seamlessly show you all the best elements during your tour.
About the Oculus
Designed by Santiago Calatrava, the Oculus is a visually stunning transportation hub for the World Trade Center in the heart of Ground Zero. Its interior space has been likened to a cathedral, and its clean white lines offer a striking contrast to the skyscrapers of New York. It opened in 2016 and offers a variety of retail and fine dining options. During your private tour, we’ll give you a sense of how this architectural gem has impacted the redevelopment of downtown.
About the 9/11 Museum and Memorial
The 9/11 Memorial Museum houses artifacts central to the events of 9/11, but also tells stories of healing and revival for the people and the sites affected by that day. Interactive exhibits, artifacts, and archives occupy 110,000 square feet of space, and your ART SMART guide can help you navigate the collections with ease. The adjacent 9/11 Memorial offers an opportunity for reflection and remembrance.
